Vacuum Conical Mixers & Dryers
An orbiting screw lifts product along the wall of a conical, jacketed, vacuum-rated vessel while gravity returns it through the centre. The gentlest agitated drying geometry — big batches, low headroom charge, total discharge, and mixing energy so low that fragile products barely notice they were processed.
The Mixing Action
Orbit & Lift
The screw conveys product up the cone wall while orbiting the circumference — full-volume turnover at very low speed, with the heated wall continuously swept.
Gravity Return
Product cascades down the centre under gravity. Energy per unit mass is the lowest of any powered mixer — minimal heat generation, minimal attrition.
Cone-Wall Drying
The full cone is jacketed; the swept wall renews the product layer while vacuum drops the boiling point. Large batches dry uniformly without hot spots or crust.

Conical screw vacuum dryers are dominated by one or two legacy names quoted on reputation. QuantumX quotes the engineering: swept wall area per litre, screw orbit strategy for your flow behaviour, evaporation rate at your solvent and vacuum level — measured in trial, warranted at FAT.
Mix, Dry, React — One Vessel, Under Vacuum
At 10–100 mbar absolute, water boils between 7 °C and 46 °C — so heat-sensitive product dries at temperatures a conventional dryer cannot approach. Every QuantumX vacuum machine shares the same engineering: ASME jackets, vacuum-rated bodies, closed-loop solvent recovery, nitrogen back-fill for oxygen-free processing, and product-temperature control with full batch data logging. How vacuum drying works »
One Vessel, Three Duties
Mix, react or granulate, then dry to spec — no transfer, no loss, no re-segregation.
Solvent Recovery
Condenser, receiver and cold trap sized to the duty; solvents come back as liquid.
Oxygen-Free
Evacuate and back-fill with N₂; ATEX and inert-loop control available.
Validated Cycles
Drying curve and endpoint measured in trial, warranted at FAT.
Conical screw mixers are also built as standard atmospheric mixers — the same engineered geometry, jacket options and trial validation, without the vacuum train. Specify at enquiry.

Conical Screw Dryers, Answered
What is a conical screw vacuum dryer?
A cone-shaped jacketed vessel with an orbiting screw agitator, operated under vacuum. It dries and blends large batches with the lowest mechanical stress of any agitated dryer, and discharges completely through the bottom valve.
Why is a conical screw dryer so gentle?
The screw runs at low speed and gravity does the mixing on the return path — specific energy input per kilogram is a fraction of horizontal agitated dryers.
What batch size flexibility does it have?
The geometry mixes correctly from roughly 10% to 100% of working volume, so one vessel covers development lots and full production batches.
